The OnePointFive Initiative: 100,000 Sustainability Professionals Trained and Activated

Most people want to find meaning at work and know they’re creating something bigger and longer lasting than just themselves. At OnePointFive, we believe that even something as big as the climate crisis can be solved by deploying human ingenuity for the greatest good and to its fullest potential. The key to unlocking the pathway to the most impactful climate solutions is effective education and training. Through these acquired skills, all who want to can become equipped to advise organizations on sustainable growth and continue personal, professional, and planetary success simultaneously.

That is why we at OnePointFive are announcing a brand new major campaign to train 100,000 professionals on sustainability solutions while enabling them to take action and unlock the necessary changes to protect our planet.

100,000 Sustainability Professionals Trained and Activated

The world’s emissions targets have been set by the global scientific community and the United Nations. The Paris Agreement from COP21 in 2015 is a legally binding international treaty signed by 196 parties who agreed to act on climate change and limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius.

When leaders, managers, do-ers, and citizens come together to design and deploy solutions that achieve these targets, we will create a better future. A future that we can envision when we close our eyes and look forward to the fruits that our work will bear. In order to do that, we need to get as many people trained and educated as possible, which is where OnePointFive comes in.

We cannot waste the next several years learning how to do GHG accounting at the expense of halving emissions. Industry-relevant climate training at-scale will bridge the skillset and knowledge gaps, and build the workforce talent we need to reach net-zero in time.
— Neil Yeoh, Founder and CEO, OnePointFive

Over the past five years, job postings requiring green skills grew at 8% annually, yet the share of green talent has grown by only roughly 6% annually in the same period. At the same time, 68% of sustainability leaders have been hired internally, while only 43% have sustainability-related degrees. There’s a very clear green talent gap that is waiting to be filled by those who are ready to step up to the plate.

We hear from CEOs and leaders all the time that they’re understaffed, overwhelmed, and can’t implement solutions quickly enough. What we need is something to help them unlock their strategies and get there yesterday.
— Matthias Muehlbauer, Founding Partner, OnePointFive

Matthias continues, “We know what solutions are required to solve climate change. What we’re missing is the workforce, the movement of people, and the talent to actually implement these solutions. This is what our 100k campaign is about.”

How Will We Train 100,000 People?

We are a once-in-a-lifetime generation that has the chance to truly change the world for the better. Each person who joins our community of folks dedicated to working on and implementing climate solutions is acting to build a better version of our world and a better future for all life on Earth.

By teaching sustainability skills directly to current and future climate workers, and indirectly to organizations we advise and partner with, we are able to extend the knowledge and skills we’ve acquired to a collective community focused on changing how people and businesses operate for the better.

Our vision is to upskill, train, and activate 100k sustainability professionals who can help build a greener, more regenerative, brighter future. We’re going to do this through our projects, and our OnePointFive Academy, by sharing our knowledge and project expertise to build a future running on sunshine, focused on de-carbonization that restores our planet and takes it to greater heights. And we want to build that future with you.

Join us as part of our movement to train and activate 100,000 sustainability professionals, and help us unlock the necessary changes to protect our planet today.
