OPF is dedicated to making climate education accessible, ensuring financial barriers do not prevent passionate individuals from pursuing impactful careers in climate and sustainability.

Scholarships are limited and awarded on a selective basis, with specific eligibility and selection criteria for each tier to ensure support reaches those who can benefit most. Please note that applying for a scholarship does not guarantee the maximum percentage of funding, and full scholarships are not available at this time.

There are two scholarship application deadlines to keep in mind:

Early Scholarship Deadline: December 8
Decisions Announced: December 16

Final Scholarship Deadline: February 2
Decisions Announced: February 10

It is in your best interest to apply by the early scholarship deadline as applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • Are you a passionate climate advocate from the Global South? Facing financial barriers but ready to make a difference? Apply for this scholarship (Up to 80%) and bring impactful change to your region.

    Eligibility Criteria:

    • Residing in, or a refugee from, regions within the Global South, including Africa, Central and Latin America, South Asia, Southeast Asia, and similar regions.

    • Demonstrated financial need due to regional economic disparities that make the course cost prohibitive.

    Selection Criteria (What We’re Looking For in Recipients):

    • Minimum of 3 years of professional or volunteer experience in climate, sustainability, or a related field.

    • Clear commitment to climate or sustainability, evidenced by past work, volunteer roles, or academic initiatives.

    • Strong desire to apply course learnings with a demonstrated intent to use their skills to address their local and regional climate challenges.

  • Been out of work for a while, or balancing extraordinary circumstances? Are you a student or recent grad eager to launch into climate action? This scholarship (Up to 60%) could be the stepping stone to your new career in sustainability.

    Eligibility Criteria:

    • Mid-career professional experiencing extended unemployment (6+ months) or extraordinary financial/personal circumstances that make course access prohibitive.

    • OR, Currently enrolled as a graduate-level student, recent graduate, or an exceptional undergraduate with a strong interest in climate/sustainability.

    Selection Criteria (What We’re Looking For in Recipients):

    • Minimum of 2 years of professional or volunteer experience in climate, sustainability, or a related field or evidence of a strong interest in climate or sustainability.

    • A clear vision of how this scholarship will enable them to contribute to their career trajectory and how the specific topics covered in the course will be valuable to their professional journey.

  • Leading or supporting a nonprofit, NGO, or early-stage venture aimed at climate solutions? Need a financial lift to access deeper climate education? Let this scholarship (Up to 40%) empower your mission.

    Eligibility Criteria:

    • Currently employed by or involved with nonprofits or NGOs focused on sustainability or climate action.

    • Founders or key members of early-stage startups or social ventures dedicated to developing climate solutions.

    • Demonstrated financial need, shown through a statement explaining how their nonprofit or social venture work makes the course cost challenging without the scholarship.

    Selection Criteria(What We’re Looking For in Recipients):

    • Minimum of 2 years of professional or volunteer experience in climate, sustainability, or a related field or evidence of a strong interest in climate or sustainability.

    • Passion for driving social or environmental impact and a vision for applying course learnings in impactful ways within their organization or venture.

  • Midway through your career and looking to pivot or level up in climate? Limited financial support but big goals to make an impact? This scholarship (Up to 30%) can help fuel your transition to a climate-focused role

    Eligibility Criteria:

    • Demonstrated financial need due to specific circumstances not related to the above scholarship criteria (e.g., limited professional development budget from their employer, commitment to self-fund professional growth, etc).

    Selection Criteria(What We’re Looking For in Recipients):

    • A clear and demonstrated interest in climate or sustainability, shown through past work, volunteer activities, academic projects, or personal initiatives.

    • Strong potential to apply course knowledge in meaningful ways, either by expanding current work responsibilities, shifting roles, or enhancing professional impact in the climate or sustainability space.
