Position Overview

The Summer Grad/Post-Grad Sustainability Consultant position at OnePointFive provides current Master of Environmental Management (MEM), or equivalent, students with hands-on experience in delivering climate services, technology, and finance projects. With expertise in summarizing and synthesizing findings, this individual contributes valuable insights to enhance customer deliverables, utilizing stakeholder interviews and technical, environmental, and industry research. The Summer Grad / Post-Grad Sustainability Consultant further supports quantitative and qualitative analysis tied to areas like GHG Accounting & Lifecycle Assessment, while actively contributing to the improvement of operational processes and knowledge management for enhanced project execution.

Responsibilities

  • Support the execution and delivery of sustainability project and training across OPF’s suite of services & offerings

  • Summarize and synthesize project, modeling, and research findings to present back to the OPF team and client in a clear and understandable way

  • Conduct academic, industry and training-related research to support the development of internal articles, workshop content, and project deliverables

  • Develop case studies for our project engagements, and complimentary article and content posts for marketing purposes

  • Support the development and productization of our bespoke sustainability service to training offerings

  • Support business development efforts with potential and existing customers, including proposal research and development

  • Support marketing and communications writing and content creation across interesting sustainability expert topic areas

  • Contribute to the improvement of operational processes and systems for our internal knowledge management, expert recruiting and project execution

Qualifications

This role is split across project management, research execution and internal operations, and would suit a candidate with prior environmental consulting, climate training, and/or startup experience

  • Currently enrolled in Master of Environmental Management or equivalent grad/post-grad degree

  • Ideally at least 2-5 years of work experience or equivalent experience working on sustainability consulting or research projects for startups / companies

  • Basic familiarity with some sustainability-related standards and approaches:

    • Preferred familiarity: GHG accounting and disclosure, Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) modeling

    • Optional familiarity: GHG Protocol, International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) S1 and S2, Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), TCFD (Taskforce on Climate Financial Disclosures)

  • Skills in delivering some aspects of sustainability and/or research work - e.g. environmental science research and modeling within GHG accounting and/or LCA modeling

  • Embodiment of our organizational cultural values of commitment, collaboration, respect, diversity, trust, transparency, and accountability

  • Competency using Spreadsheet and Slide-making software, and familiarity with other software tools - i.e. AirTable, Notion, Miro, Hubspot

  • Strong entrepreneurship curiosity, and interest in executing sustainability projects and training

  • Confidence presenting to and interacting with clients

  • Strong attention to detail, and good ability to keep information and work well-organized and on-track

  • Ability to conduct research & analysis in environmental topics to help execute projects and update training content

  • Ability to help answer technical environmental questions that may asked by attendees of our training workshops to fellowship programming - i.e. OnePointFive Academy

  • Ability to work independently, efficiently and effectively remotely

Working Hours

Full-Time: 40 hours per week, working hybrid in New York (in-person and remotely) or fully remote, preferably in the EST time zone or an adjacent time zone.

Compensation:

The maximum stipend for this position is $5,000.  Candidates, through their own avenues, have the possibility to secure additional compensation through grant or internship funding. We are happy to provide any necessary documentation to support their applications.
